Variable Fan Time Delay

Fact:  Once gas or electric is shut off due to the thermostat being satisfied all of the remaining energy on a cooling coil or heat exchanger is free to use.  The InteliFan® gets it in the house where it belongs better than any standard fixed fan time delay!

Cooling:  Intertek® tests show InteliFan® improves cooling efficiency by 7 to 23% (15% on average) by recovering and delivering more useful cooling energy that would otherwise be wasted.  InteliFan® prevents evaporator coil icing.

15% Average Annual Savings

The numbers to the left are a measurement of cool out to power in.  It is for comparison as a multiple, meaning there is 2 to 10 times more cooling coming out of a coil than electric energy going in.  Cooling efficiency goes up by these multiples as the run time increases.  The bottom numbers indicate system run time.

This graph shows three different run times which increase from left to right.

The blue line is normal cooling operation with a standard fixed fan time delay.

The green line shows the increased cooling efficiency and benefit using the InteliFan® increasing the fan run time after a standard fixed set fan time delay until all the energy is used and put into the house.

Heating:  Intertek® tests show InteliFan® improves heating efficiency by 11 to 19% (17% on average) by recovering and delivering more heating energy from gas, heat pump or hydronic heat exchangers that would otherwise be wasted.

17% Average Annual Savings

The numbers to the left indicate the percentage of heat energy being extracted from the gas (AFU rating) that is being used to run the system.  The bottom numbers indicate system run time.  As the run time increases the heat exchanger gets hotter which increases the percentage of energy being extracted from the gas, increasing heating efficiency.

Left graph: The red line is normal furnace operation with a 90 second fixed fan time delay.

The green line shows the increased heating efficiency and benefit using the InteliFan® increasing the fan run time after the 90 second fixed fan time delay until all the energy is used and put into the house.

Right graph: The red line is normal furnace operation with a 90 second fixed fan time delay.

The green line shows the increased heating efficiency and benefit using the InteliFan® which activates the G terminal after 4 minutes of run time putting the fan into high speed, increasing the heating efficiency, PLUS increasing the fan run time after the 90 second fixed fan time delay until all the energy is used and put into the house.
